Tips: Autumn leaves on a gel plate

TIPS

Printing with leaves on a gel plate is a creative way to bring some nature to your art.

Using fresh leaves is like using natural stencils/masks. They are a fun way to add some seasonal cheer to your art.🍁

FRESH IS BEST

Fresh leaves work the best. They are more malleable and won’t break like dry leaves.

I like pressing mine if they are starting to roll. Just place them between sheets of paper, lay a heavy book on top, and let them sit for a few hours.

PRINTING WITH LEAVES

Roll some paint on to the plate, then add the leaves.

Press your paper on top really being sure your paper makes contact with the plate.

Then lift your paper off the plate. Easy!

Ghost prints are especially nice when you use leaves.

OTHER OPTIONS

Using tissue or deli paper is especially nice printing with leaves.

Try using opaque paint to cover up or mask a print.

You can also experiment with layers by using translucent paints.

Have fun!🍁
