Tutorial: board book collages

TUTORIAL

Finding joy in the unexpected: repurposing children’s board books for my collages! Their sturdy pages are a dream to work with.💪 The pages hold glue/matte medium like a champ.🏆

Let me show you how…

GATHER YOUR BOOK AND COLLAGE PAPER

Find a children’s board book. You know… those books that toddlers use with the think “pages”. I like to buy mine at thrift shops.

Gather your collage paper. You can use anything you like. The papers should be thinner as thicker paper can add bulk to your finished book.

Trim your papers and start laying out your collage. Don’t let the paper cross the gutter, or center, of the book spread as it will make it difficult to close the book.

GLUE THE COLLAGE AND TRIM THE PAGES

Glue down your collage using your favorite glue. I like to use matte medium. Place papers under the pages to prevent the glue from spreading.

When you are finished glueing, place a cutting mat under the pages and trim using a craft knife and metal ruler.

FINITO!

And your board book collages are finished! With fewer pages, completing your mini collage masterpiece is a breeze!

Have fun!💥🎉🎨
