Drew's studio news - August 2024

AUGUST 2024

I'm back from Colorado and I've hit the ground running. I'm very busy in the studio prepping for upcoming events, fitting in art making when I can, and running my business.

On to studio news...

STUDIO NEWS

Recent studio work

It feels good to be back in my studio after spending six weeks in Colorado. The change of scenery was refreshing, but there’s something grounding about being surrounded by the familiar sights and sounds of my studio. As I settle back in, I’m reconnecting with my materials and routines and finding my rhythm again.

Even with the fast pace, huge to-do list, and huge leaps of my art business, getting back to making art involves a lot of small steps. Each day, I’m spending time just being in the studio, letting the environment inspire me. This approach helps me ease back into the flow of creating. I’m looking forward to sharing new work with you soon.

IG INSPIRATION

Julian Jamaal Jones

My current Instagram art crush is Julian Jones.

Jones is an American artist working mostly in fiber. His process is similar to mine in that he begins with multimedia pieces that he scans, digitally manipulates, prints on fabric, then assembles in to quilts.

Check out Julians's work.
