Tutorial: using matte medium on a gel plate.

TUTORIAL

Did you know you can use matte medium on a gel plate? It’s a great way to pick up dried paint off the plate as it’s essentially clear… perfect for using tissue or deli paper.

A few tips…

CREATE YOUR MARKS

Create any kind of marks on the Gelli plate.

Here I’m using a Posca Mop’r pen.

Allow your marks to dry.

MATTE MEDIUM

Roll the matte medium on to the plate like regular paint.

Matte medium is basically acrylic paint with no pigmentation. So, use it just like you would any paint on a gel plate.

I like Liquitex matte medium the best.

PULLING THE PRINT

Add your paper and press. Let the paper sit on the plate for a while… several minutes. Then pull the print.

This is a great technique for tissue paper and deli paper because it’s a clear layer when you pull your dried paint off the plate… great to use for collage.

Have fun!💥🎉🎨
