Drew's studio news - November 2023

NOVEMBER 2023

If you're in the US or Canada I hope you were able to pause and give thanks for the moments, the connections, and the abundance that surrounds us during your respective Thanksgivings. (And I hope you had a fantastic feast 🦃🥧)

Now on to studio news...

STUDIO NEWS

Recent studio work

Using a traditional sketchbook was always a challenge for me. For the longest time, the blank pages felt like an intimidating canvas.

But recently, something clicked. I've discovered joy in the process of collage work, turning what was once a struggle into vibrant collages.

I'm two-thirds of the way through this sketchbook and the progress is a powerful motivator to see this creative journey through to the end.

A definite celebration of persistence, creativity, and the beauty that unfolds when we break free from our self-imposed artistic constraints.

Here’s to embracing challenges and discovering newfound joy in the process.🎨✨

Current studio soundtrack

Lately, I've had the taste for something different. This playlist of Joachim Heinrich ambient music has been my go-to for a chill studio mood.

IG INSPIRATION

TIPS AND TRICKS

Gel plate collages

Almost all my collages use papers I made on a Gelli plate. It’s a great way to use up all those gel printed papers you have laying round.

But did you know you can use a gel plate WHILE you are creating the collage?

While you might already have a treasure trove of gel-printed papers stashed away, using the Gelli plate as a dynamic tool during the very act of collage creation is another captivating dimension to explore.

Merge the spontaneity of the Gelli plate with the intricacy of collage. You can get all the details here.
